Oaklyn is a 2-year-old little girl from Malakoff, TX who always has a sweet smile on her face. She was born at just 32 weeks weighing 2 pounds 5 ounces and has a twin brother. Oaklyn has a rare chromosome abnormality called Mosaic Monosomy 21. Her life has been a rollercoaster in and out of long hospital stays. Bacterial meningitis, strokes, pneumonia, and Covid are some of the big obstacles she has had to face. She is a warrior and has stolen the hearts of many.
Oaklyn enjoys spending time with her 4 siblings, watching movies, going outside, and traveling in the family RV. She has been to Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Florida, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Oklahoma! She’s always excited for her next adventure.
As parents, it is important to us to be able to give Oaklyn a life where she can experience all of the joys this world has to offer. We face a lot of the unknown as a common cold can be detrimental to Oaklyn’s life, but we want her to do as many things as possible. Oaklyn has taught us so much in her 2 years of life.
Oaklyn is g-tube dependent, uses a trach, and just recently received a shunt for hydrocephalus. We have loved using Apple as our DME. They always go above and beyond to meet Oaklyn’s needs - always making sure we have the supplies we need at home and before a big trip!
